Takeaways in Leek

Leek calls itself the Queen of the Moorlands, and it’s just far enough from Stoke that the delivery apps thin out. The town has sorted itself out instead: thirteen of the eighteen takeaways we checked take orders on their own websites. Here they all are.

Getting a takeaway in Leek

Haywood Street is Leek’s busiest takeaway street, with China Garden, Scorpio, Turkish Delight and Alberto’s Kitchen all on it. St Edward Street has the two pizza takeaways, Stake Out and Pizza Line. Stockwell Street has Naz, Mr Vongs and Flaming Leek, and the Market Place has Sarga. The rest are spread out: Bamboo Garden and Goa on Buxton Road, Pabna on Ashbourne Road, Chennai on the High Street and the Haregate Fish Bar on Queens Drive.

Chinese leads with six takeaways and curry is close behind with five. What sets Leek apart is how many take orders online: all five curry houses, three of the Chinese takeaways, all three pizza places and both grills. Only Mr Vongs, Emperors Court, China Town, Haregate and Turkish Delight are phone-only, and Turkish Delight’s site says a new ordering system is on the way. China Town delivers within three miles for a small charge.

Deliveroo doesn’t list any restaurants in Leek; its nearest coverage is Congleton, about 14 km away, with Stoke-on-Trent about 15 km. When we checked on 1 November 2026, Uber Eats showed twenty places for Leek, but three quarters were supermarkets, chains and a carvery. Wednesday is market day, a tradition that goes back to a charter of 1207, and the Butter Market in the Market Place adds stalls through the week.

Good to know: Alberto’s Kitchen only opens Thursday to Saturday evenings, so if you’re set on its pizza, plan for the weekend. On other nights Stake Out and Pizza Line both take orders online and deliver.

How we choose

We list independent takeaways in Leek that you can order from direct, either on their own website or by phone. National chains, cafés and delivery-app-only listings are left out, and so is anywhere with a food hygiene rating below 2. Nobody pays to appear, and being listed does not mean a takeaway uses tastie. We checked every listing against its Food Standards Agency record and the takeaway’s own listings (its website, social media page or directory entries) on 1 November 2026. Menus, prices, opening hours and delivery areas can change, so check with the takeaway before you order.
